Chelsea Romance
This musical embodiment of all that is best and unique in Russian poetry is reflected in a complex yet delicate structure rooted in the traditions of classical music form.
Conventional classical songs from the world's greatest composers and the power of Graham Preskett's contemporary arrangements are the perfect vehicle for the young, different, modern day soprano.
This is the attempt to combine different styles within one music genre-jazz and Russian Romance, modern ballade and popular songs-and to re-open to the listener the musical as a multi-level and sophisticatedstyle of music.
A graduate of The College of Music, Russia, and the Conservatoire in St. Petersburg, Marina worked with Mary Hammond of the Royal Academy of Music in London to develop a unique style and repertoire, which includes both classical and modern music.
Representing a new generation of young artists who are passionate about contemporary opera, Marina has worked closely with Graham Preskett, a composer of film and TV music for over twenty years, on her second album, ‘Classic Revolution’. Described as “classical..with a twist of tomorrow”, ‘Classic Revolution ’ features arrangements of Bach-Gounod’s ‘Ave Maria’ and Dalla’s ‘Caruso’ among others.
Still based in London, Marina recently received critical acclaim for her “original and haunting” performance of ‘Ave Maria’ and ‘Caruso’. Marina performs at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Royal Festival Hall in July.
